SHERRI L. NEAL

Board Member - Sherri L. Neal

Sherri Neal is Chief Diversity Officer for HCA Healthcare, where she is responsible for leading diversity, inclusion, equity, and cultural competence initiatives. Since joining the company in 2006, she has been a champion of creating a culture of inclusion through thought leadership, strategic direction and creative business solutions. Sherri is a progressive innovator and has developed multiple award-winning models, including: The Cultural Inclusion Series, The Culturally Competent Care Resource Guide, The Cultural Insights Project and BRAVE Conversations.

With over 25 years of experience as a diversity practitioner, Sherri is known for her ability to deliver engaging presentations that inspire audiences to take inclusion to the next level. Prior to joining HCA, she led workforce diversity initiatives as the Chief Operating Officer for New Directions Management Services, Inc. She has also served as Senior Vice President of Membership for the Girl Scout Council of Middle Tennessee and as Assistant to the Director of the Kelly Miller Smith Institute at Vanderbilt University Divinity School. She has a B.S. from the University of Wisconsin and M.S. in Sustainable Management also from the University of Wisconsin (Superior). In addition to her commitment to inclusion and diversity, she is passionate about environmental justice and sustainability.

Sherri is an active community volunteer and serves on a number of nonprofit boards in Middle Tennessee including, Boys and Girls Clubs of Middle Tennessee, Conexión Americas, National Museum of African American Music, OZ Arts, Thistle Farms and American Baptist College. She has received several recognitions, including the Tri-State Minority Supplier Development Council Champion Award and Tennessee State University’s Women of Legend and Merit Award.
